Living in La Demo

Whether you're a long-time resident or new to the community, the City of La Demo offers a wide range of services and programs designed to enhance your quality of life. From neighborhood watch programs and community events to utility assistance and voter registration, we're here to serve you.

La Demo has been recognized as one of the top 50 small cities in the State of Confusion for its low crime rate, excellent parks system, and strong public schools. The city's diverse neighborhoods each have their own character, from the historic homes along Magnolia Boulevard to the newer developments in the Millbrook and Sunset Meadow areas.

Neighborhood Programs

The City of La Demo supports strong neighborhoods through several community-based programs. The Neighborhood Watch program, coordinated through the Police Department, currently has 32 active neighborhood groups across the city. The annual Block Party Permit program allows neighbors to close residential streets for community gatherings at no charge.

Important: Neighborhood Watch meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Community Center, 200 Oak Street. All residents are welcome to attend.

Utility Assistance

Qualifying low-income residents may be eligible for assistance with utility payments through the City's Helping Hands program. Applications are accepted year-round at City Hall or online through the Human Services Department. Income verification is required.

Human Services makes referrals to programs that aid individuals and families to return to a state of financial self-sufficiency.

To apply:

  1. Complete a written Application (available online or in the Human Services office in City Hall)
  2. Schedule an appointment with a Caseworker to determine eligibility
  3. Complete a Full Financial Review

An appointment and complete financial review are required for the first and each subsequent request for assistance.
